Speech Language Pathologist

The West River Student Services Unit is accepting applications for a full time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position to begin immediately and follows the school calendar. Applicant must hold or be eligible for a North Dakota licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. The SLP will provide speech language services to qualified students with disabilities ages 3 through 21.


Essential job functions:

  • Participate as a multidisciplinary team member to complete educational assessments with students as well as to assist in determining eligibility for special education.

  • Facilitate case management activities to eligible students.

  • Develop appropriate methods to monitor instructional progress as well as to maintain a complete records and reports as required by Unit administration.

  • Attend required meetings.


Job Salary/Benefits:

Position Title: Special Education Coordinator

The West River Student Services Unit is seeking a talented, self-motivated Special Education Coordinator to join the SpEd Leadership team. This position supports member district special education staff with the implementation of federal and state regulations. This position will serve multiple school districts with in the West River Student Services Unit.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or Educational Administration

  • Licensure as a Special Education Teacher

  • Four years of Special Education experience

  • Valid driver’s license

Competencies:

  • Must be able to work in a team decision- making situations

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must possess ability to problem-solve

  • Must possess ability to coordinate with others and leads teams when necessary

  • Must possess skills to be a due process facilitator

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and supports curriculum materials, methodology, and related instruction

  • Prevised leadership in the implementation of new trends, rules compliance and screening early identification of children requiring special education services

  • Facilitates the development of pre-referral activities such as intervention plans. Teacher Assistance Teams, and general education strategic activates

  • Assist with designing, monitoring and coordinating district procedures to assure procedures are following state and federal regulations

  • Assist IEP teams in problem-solving and creating plans

Travel/Work Requirements:

  • Travel among 13-member school districts required

  • 181-day contract (August-May)
